Using Second Life, VSTE Island facilitator Keith Reeves will present an authentic example of instruction using virtual environments, specifically Second Life, as conducted in mid-September on VSTE Island. The lesson will involve experienced (even moderately so) educators immersing themselves in an actual lesson, instructed in a virtual environment, using Virginia SOL-correlated social studies instruction at the Grade 6 level, to highlight the effectiveness of teaching and learning within a simulated environment, and a subsequent Q&A on pedagogy, design, and instruction in VE.
